Most patients feel back to normal within a few days. Here is how to get there smoothly.

Day 1

Bite on gauze, rest with your head elevated, use ice 20 minutes on and off, and eat cool, soft foods.

Days 2–3

Swelling peaks then fades. Begin gentle salt-water rinses. No straws, smoking or spitting.

Days 4–7

Gradually return to normal foods. Call us if pain increases after day three — it may be dry socket.
