Dental Implants

A replacement tooth that works like the real thing.

The short answer

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone that fuses with bone and supports a natural-looking crown, bridge or denture. Implants restore full chewing strength, help prevent bone loss and can last decades. Pacific Dental Group in Montebello plans implants with 3D imaging, and Dr. Shahinyan’s team is affiliated with the International Congress of Implantology.

Who dental implants is right for

  • A missing tooth you don’t want to bridge
  • Loose or uncomfortable dentures
  • A failing tooth that must be removed
  • Adults in good general health with adequate bone (or grafting)

What to expect, step by step

  1. 3D consult

Cone beam imaging measures bone and maps nerves.

  2. Placement

The implant is placed with local anesthetic; sedation available.

  3. Integration

Over a few months, bone fuses to the implant.

  4. Restoration

A custom crown, bridge or denture attaches on top.

Why choose an implant instead of a bridge?

A bridge requires reshaping the healthy teeth on either side of the gap. An implant stands on its own, so neighboring teeth are left untouched and easier to floss.

Implants also stimulate the jawbone the way a natural root does, which helps preserve facial contours and prevents the sunken look that can follow tooth loss.

Can implants secure my dentures?

Yes. As few as two to four implants can snap a denture firmly into place, ending slipping, adhesives and sore spots. Many patients say it’s like getting their bite back.

Dental Implants FAQs

How much do dental implants cost in Montebello?

Costs vary by case. After a 3D consultation, we give you an itemized estimate covering the implant, abutment, crown and any grafting, plus financing options.

Do dental implants hurt?

Placement is done with local anesthetic and sedation is available. Most patients manage soreness with over-the-counter pain relievers for a few days.

Am I too old for implants?

There is no upper age limit. Overall health and bone volume matter more than age.

What if I don’t have enough bone?

Bone grafting can rebuild the area so an implant can be placed safely.

How long do implants last?

The implant post can last decades with good hygiene. The crown on top may need replacing after 10–15+ years.
